Finding talent that excels, is a talent in itself, with every search as unique as the role it seeks to fill.

At Thomas Cole Kinder, we don't just focus on present and past performance, but on potential too, using an extensive and exhaustive process that combines research, legwork and inspiration in equal measure.

It's an approach that leads us to the stars of the future as well as the talent of today.

Step 1: Diversity

We expect diversity to be at the forefront of our clients’ minds, not least because relatively few organisations in the markets we serve have a genuinely diverse work force.

We go to great lengths to ensure that every shortlist we produce is diverse. And where options are at their most limited, we challenge our clients to consider a wider field of high-potential candidates and support them through successful onboarding and realisation of full potential.

Step 2: Engage

Initial briefing to fully understand the role, required competencies and ideal profile. Challenge client assumptions and advise on alternative strategies. Develop a detailed assignment brief for client review and agree the appropriate search strategy and timetable.

Step 3: Explore

Lateral coverage is vitally important to every search in the real estate market as key industry knowledge, contact base, technical, transactional and leadership skills are all highly transferable. Analyse client's business and corporate culture and structure as well as define target markets and geographies.

Step 4: Identify

Conduct discreet market sourcing and targeted research to develop a long list of the most relevant prospects. Present and discuss profiles and agree on a set of  "high-potentials" to approach. Develop bespoke approach strategies and engage candidate interest.

Step 5: Screen

Combine rigorous competency-based interviews and confidential third party referencing to accurately gauge suitability. Present a final short list of candidates, providing balanced candidate reports covering fit against the brief, market insights and guidance on any aspects to explore further at client interview.

Step 6: Appoint

Oversee and support client interview schedule and negotiations. Manage the offer process, take formal references and advise candidate through the resignation process.

Step 7: Nurture

Follow up with both parties once the search is closed, to check the progress of transition. Maintain partnership and support growth and success of both the client and candidate.

TCK Future Leaders

We actively identify the leaders of tomorrow as well as those of today. Offering the same high levels of diligence and consideration as for Board level hires, our Future Leaders team brings rigour and structure to appointments in the heart of your business that are too important to get wrong.

We identify and appraise emerging talent with a clear focus towards potential and the development and mentoring that will unlock future leadership progression. These appointments create a strong internal talent pool vital to long-term success in every business and have been poorly serviced by mid-level recruiters who limit themselves to active jobseekers.

We go further to understand the drivers of your business and the areas in which an outstanding candidate can contribute, beyond their initial role. We directly consider the required skillsets alongside the cultural and interpersonal qualities that dovetail appropriately with your existing team to maximise the value of every appointment.

Assessment

In a complex business world demanding ever more from our leaders, gaining deeper insight into their capability and potential shortcomings is imperative. We offer leading-edge psychometric assessment tools to provide the evaluation and assurance that a candidate can deliver as the organisation and its situation requires.

Partnering with market leading occupational psychologists and leadership assessors, we bring independent perspective to our clients to fully understand a candidate’s performance and leadership qualities and their future potential. We all know that the best players don’t always transition to being the best managers but businesses frequently overlook future potential when making critical appointments. The tools we use enable our clients to make highly informed and rigorous hiring decisions.

Valued remuneration

TCK Reward is an associated reward consultancy that offers expert advice on all aspects of remuneration across the real estate sector, including listed businesses, funds and private companies. We specialise in benchmarking compensation levels of key senior management, as well as those in divisional, functional or technical roles - undertaking bespoke remuneration studies both on a one-off basis and as a regular part of an organisation’s annual remuneration reviews.

It is Thomas Cole Kinder's experience and understanding of the real estate market, along with having immediate access to the most current data, that has allowed TCK Reward to develop a unique and effective role-evaluation model. By focusing on the scale and requirements of each role, rather than merely a job title, we deliver bespoke reports that make precise and accurate comparisons enabling companies to attract, retain and motivate top talent.

The Future of Office Culture

Everyone in the property industry and many beyond it have a view of how offices will be occupied once we are able to safely return. Yannick Green, a Principal at Thomas Cole Kinder, was keen to explore the changes that we might expect to see, how technology will change office culture and any potential shifts in future working patterns - so he assembled a panel of experts from the UK, Europe and USA with different perspectives.

During the hour we covered:

  • Who the workplace will be for?
  • How could we redesign the space?
  • What cultural impacts might we anticipate?
  • How will space requirements change?
  • Which roles and which types of people really benefit from the office?
  • How necessary is physical collaboration?
  • How will location effect decisions?
