Step 1: Engage

Initial briefing to fully understand the role, required competencies and ideal profile. Challenge client assumptions and advise on alternative strategies. Develop a detailed assignment brief for client review and agree the appropriate search strategy and timetable.

Step 2: Explore

Lateral coverage is vitally important to every search in the real estate market as key industry knowledge, contact base, technical, transactional and leadership skills are all highly transferable. Analyse client’s business and corporate culture and structure as well as define target markets and geographies.

Step 3: Identify

Conduct discreet market sourcing and targeted research to develop a long list of the most relevant prospects. Present and discuss profiles and agree on a set of  ‘high-potentials’ to approach. Develop bespoke approach strategies and engage candidate interest.

Step 4: Screen

Combine rigorous competency-based interviews and confidential third party referencing to accurately gauge suitability. Present a final short list of candidates, providing balanced candidate reports covering fit against the brief, market insights and guidance on any aspects to explore further at client interview.

Step 5: Appoint

Oversee and support client interview schedule and negotiations. Manage the offer process, take formal references and advise candidate through the resignation process.

Step 6: Nurture

Follow up with both parties once the search is closed, to check the progress of transition. Maintain partnership and support growth and success of both the client and candidate.

Graham has worked in executive search within the real estate sector for almost 20 years, focusing on senior executive and non-executive appointments covering all functions for major REITs, property companies, fund managers and retailers. Prior to joining Thomas Cole Kinder in 1998, Graham worked for an international recruitment company, where he initially worked in the real estate practice. He was later appointed Managing Consultant for the finance team. His early career was spent working for a firm of chartered surveyors.

Andrew has worked in executive search since 1997, specialising in real estate since 1999. He has an excellent track record in the industry having successfully completed searches for Board Executives, senior management and functional heads within the property company, investment banking, investment management, private equity, corporate owner/occupier and professional services environments. Prior to joining the firm Andrew was a Partner at Whitehead Mann where he established the firm’s Real Estate Practice. Earlier in his career, he focused on financial appointments across a broader range of industries. Andrew has a BA (Hons) in Economics and an MA in Business Analysis from Leicester University.

Lesley has worked in executive search in the real estate sector for over 20 years, focusing on senior appointments covering all functions for a wide range of organisations, including major property companies, fund managers and corporate occupiers. She joined Thomas Cole Kinder in 1996 and was appointed a Partner later that year. The early part of her career includes teaching, working for Manpower plc and then for Herman Miller in the commercial workspace market, managing a new business team focused on global accounts, before becoming its UK Marketing Director.

Stuart has worked in real estate executive search since 2005 and has successfully completed a wide range of senior level search assignments for listed REITs, housebuilders, fund managers, registered providers and advisory businesses. He specialises in the residential sector and his experience spans development, land, planning, construction, sales & marketing and financial appointments. Prior to joining TCK he spent 4 years working for an international consultancy where he specialised in recruiting senior level property and construction professionals. He has a 2:1 BSc (Hons) degree in Sport & Exercise Science.

Michelle has extensive real estate experience having worked in a support function within the sector for almost 20 years. She joined Thomas Cole Kinder in 2001 and is responsible for the overall administrative management of the office as well as providing research support to the in-house research team. Prior to joining Thomas Cole Kinder, Michelle worked for an international property consultancy and a firm of consulting engineers.
